Research Centre
Aims and Objectives
The Philips College "Research Centre" was established in 2001 with the aim of enhancing the research effort of the Philips staff and promoting research excellence in the areas of: Accounting & Finance, Business Studies, Information Technology, Education, Law and Public Relations. The "Research Centre" provides a good platform for staff to carry out research and engage in other research-related activities. The Centre proved to be particularly helpful to staff wishing to engage in self-development work as well. Members of staff are encouraged to conduct both basic as well as applied research in their areas of interest. It is particularly encouraging to note that many research projects have already been completed successfully through the “Research Centre” and many more are nearing completion.
The research benefits of this new initiative have been many and varied. The department of Business Studies is singled out for its particular contribution to research and for generating many benefits to the research community of the College. Many students and others have benefited from this effort. Many of the papers that have already been published in refereed scientific and other journals have been authored by staff of this department. Partly due to the efforts of the Business Department the College succeeded in attracting funding from external sources fuelled in this way the research effort and helping the "Research Centre" achieve its aims.
During the period 2002-2006 the Research Centre has received approximately 350.000 CYP in the form of research grands.
